Spring Fine Asian Art & Antiques Auction
Post-auction review
As the final hammer fell late Sunday afternoon, we officially added another Spring Fine Asian Art & Antiques auction to Oakridge’s record books. Thanks to the hard work of our fine auctioneer, Mr. Clarke Peacock, as well as our many phone and online bidders, the auction went off without a hitch, garnering over $3.1 million with an incredible sell-through rate of 85%.
Several of our lots broke the $100,000 mark, including a painting by Zhang Daqian and -- quite unexpectedly -- a humble Chinese Huanghuali table from the 18th century, which exceeded its high estimate of $8,000 with a final realized price of $201,300. While there were expected high sellers, like an Imperial Chinese red-glazed vase sold for $106,750, there were also a number of unexpected stars in this auction, including a Chinese jade plaque from the Warring States period or earlier, whose realized price of $37,820 outstripped its high estimate of $600 by an order of magnitudes.
On behalf of everyone at Oakridge, we would like to thank all of our bidders for participating in our auction. We are especially grateful to our clients for their cooperation and understanding as we continue to operate during the Covid-19 pandemic - thank you for helping us keep our clients and staff safe and healthy!
We look forward to having you join us again soon!
