Figure 1: Lot 200, a Pair of Imperial Blue & White Bowls, Yongzheng, estimated at $10,000 – 15,000 USD, from Session 1 of Oakridge Auction Gallery’s May 2020 Asian Art & Antiques auction.

With a wide range of jades, Chinese porcelains, bronzes, scholar’s objects and embroideries, Session 1: Ceramics and Work of Arts offers more than 300 lots from important private collections across North America, including imperial porcelains from the collection of Cao Maoji, a famous writer and poet of the mid-20th century.

Figure 2: Lot 465, Lotus Painting by Zhang Daqian Given to Qiangli, estimated at $30,000 - 45,000 USD, from Session 2 of Oakridge Auction Gallery's May 2020 Art & Antiques auction.

We will resume our auction on the following morning, May 24, 2020 at 10 am with Session 2: Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy, featuring more than 100 lots of classical and modern Chinese paintings and calligraphy. Among the highlights for this session are paintings by Zhang Daqian from the collection of Mr. Chang in California. Zhang Daqian, an eccentric and unrivaled painter of the late 19th and 20th centuries, is perhaps best known as a forger of Chinese Old Masters; we are pleased to present some of his original works in our auction, including Lot 465, a watercolor and ink Lotus Painting by Zhang Daqian Given to Qiangli, estimated at $30,000 – 45,000 USD

Our final session, beginning at 1 pm on May 24, 2020, will focus exclusively on Chinese Snuff Bottles. Featuring several private North American collections, our Chinese Snuff Bottle session includes collections assembled during the 1940s in Tianjin, China, and in Hong Kong before the 1960s. These exquisite creations made from glass, ceramics, stone, and even jade have been highly prized as collector’s items for many years, and we are pleased to be able to bring so many of these miniature treasures to auction.
