Announcing our Spring Asian Decorative Arts Auction
[Ashburn, VA March 3, 2020] Oakridge Auction Gallery is pleased to announce its Spring Asian Decorative Arts Auction, to be held March 21, 2020 beginning at 10am. This auction features 372 lots of primarily Chinese decorative arts, including jade carvings, a selection of snuff bottles from collections on the US West Coast, porcelain from the 18th-early 20th century, and an array of paintings and calligraphy for the decorative market.
Among the highlights of this sale are Lot 41, a Chinese White Jade Lidded Vase, dating from the 18th-19th century, with a pre-sale estimate of $6,000 - $10,000, from a private collection in Boston, Massachusetts. The vase is carved with motifs including ruyi and various animals; the eight ducks depicted in a landscape interact in pairs to symbolize marital love and fidelity, making the vase not only an exquisite decorative artwork but also a gesture of conjugal harmony.
The auction also includes Lot 158, an Imperial Chinese Red Glazed Vase, Yongzheng mark, with an estimate of $10,000 - $15,000. This vase comes from the collection of Cao Maoji, who was a writer and a poet in Hong Kong in the mid-20th century.
Prospective buyers and Chinese art enthusiasts are invited to visit the exhibition for the auction from March 16-20, as well as on the preceding Saturday, March 14, 2020. Hours for the exhibition will be from 10am-4pm on March 14 and March 16-19 and from 10am-3pm on March 20.
The catalog for the auction will be available on Live Auctioneers, Invaluable, and Bidsquare beginning March 3, 2020. More information as well as bidder registration forms may be found on our website, www.oakridgeauctiongallery.com.
