5-Color Imperial Chinese Edict, Qianlong 1737

A framed Imperial edict from the Qianlong period, dated 1737. The edict has a 5-colored silk background across two sections of writing and two double dragon motifs. Dimensions are: Edict measures 11 3/4 in. tall X 68 in. wide, 29.8 cmtall X 172.7 cm wide. Frame measures 15 in. tall X 71 in. wide, 38.1 cm tall X 180.3 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.The silk has wear, loose threads at the edges, and the color has faded.From a New York City estate.
