Imperial Chinese Dark Ground Lobed Vase, 19th Century
superbly crafted with black glaze and oval, lobe-shaped rim and bottom, two blue and white beast shaped handles with a ring going through the mouth, front and back with two oval-shaped sections of blue-and-white decoration, expertlypainted with dragon flying above water and chasing pearl. The base with Qinghua zhenpin (precious object of pure splendour), including a four-character mark on the bottom, accompanying a box and wooden stand. It is a rare example ofsuperior workmanship from late Qing imperial porcelain. Dimensions of the vase are: 20 in. tall X 14 in. wide; 50.8 cm tall X 35.6 cm wide.
